Bhavani Devi from India has won the gold in the Sabre event in the Senior Commonwealth Fencing Championship 2018 held in Canberra, Australia. She defeated England's Emily Ruaux 15-12 in the final. With this feat, Bhavani became the first Indian to win a gold medal in the Commonwealth Championship. Earlier, Bhavani Devi won a silver medal in the Tournoi Satellite Fencing Championship in Iceland.

State Bank of Mauritius (SBM) has appointed Sidharth Rath as the Managing Director & CEO of SBM Bank (India). Before this he was working with Axis Bank as Group Executive and Head of Corporate, Transaction Banking and International Banking. SBM Bank (India) has been recently granted licence by the RBI to carry on business as a scheduled commercial bank under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, with effect from 1st December. It claims to be the first foreign bank to have been granted a universal banking licence under RBI's wholly-owned subsidiary scheme.

Wipro is India's fourth-biggest software services company by revenue and Ajim Premji is the second richest Indian. The Forbes India Leadership Awards, India's most prestigious honour for the top executives, was held in Mumbai. Forbes India honoured entrepreneurs and company bosses across nine categories, with an emphasis on excellence, innovation, and transformational leadership.

South Korea's Kim Jong Yang has been elected as Interpol's next president, edging out a longtime veteran of Russia's security services, Alexander Prokopchuk, who was strongly opposed by the US, Britain and other European nations. Prokopchuk is a general in the Russian interior ministry and serves as an Interpol vice-president. Interpol's 94 member states chose Kim at a meeting of their annual congress in Dubai. He will serve until 2020.
