IMO Syllabus for Class 6
The IMO for Class 6 has a total of 50 questions across four sections and a time duration of 60 minutes to complete the test. The total marks for the International Mathematics Olympiad are 60. Here is a breakdown of the four sections in the syllabus and the exam pattern of Class 6 IMO:
Section 1: Logical Reasoning
This section aims to help students improve their learning abilities and feel comfortable approaching nonverbal and verbal reasoning on several topics.
The section includes 15 questions and carries a total of 15 marks.
The topics include - Verbal and non-verbal logical reasoning.
Section 2: Mathematical Reasoning
This section tests the student's aptitude in mathematics, especially their ability to apply their knowledge of numbers and problem-solving abilities.
The section includes 20 questions and carries a total of 20 marks.
The topics include - Practical Geometry, Symmetry, Ratio and Proportion, Algebra, Mensuration, Data Handling, Decimals, Fractions, Integers, Understanding Elementary Shapes, Basic Geometrical Ideas, Playing with Numbers, Whole Numbers, Knowing our Numbers.
Section 3: Everyday Mathematics
This section assesses the student's understanding of the application of mathematics in daily life and real-world circumstances.
This section includes 10 questions and carries a total of 10 marks.
The syllabus for this section is the same as that of Section 2.
Section 4: Achiever's section
This section is designed to challenge students to think more critically and use higher-order thinking abilities to solve complex problems. This section includes five questions and carries a total of 15 marks.
