IMO Syllabus for Class 3

The IMO for Class 3 has a total of 35 questions across four sections and a time duration of 60 minutes to complete the test. The total marks for the International Mathematics Olympiad are 40. Here is a breakdown of the four sections in the syllabus and the exam pattern of Class 3 IMO:

Section 1: Logical Reasoning

This section aims to help students improve their learning abilities and feel comfortable approaching nonverbal and verbal reasoning on several topics.

The topics include - Possible Combinations, Days and Dates, Embedded Figures, Geometrical Shapes, Mirror Images, Grouping of Figures and Figure Matrix, Ranking Test, Coding-Decoding, Alphabet Test, Analogy and Classification, Patterns.

Section 2: Mathematical Reasoning

This section tests the student's aptitude in mathematics, especially their ability to apply their knowledge of numbers and problem-solving abilities.

The section includes 10 questions and carries a total of 10 marks.

The topics include - Data Handling, Geometry, Money, Time, Temperature, Capacity, Weight, Length, Fractions, Computation Operations, Number Sense (4-digit numbers), Number names, Numerals.

Section 3: Everyday Mathematics

This section assesses the student's understanding of the application of mathematics in daily life and real-world circumstances.

This section includes 10 questions and carries a total of 10 marks.

The syllabus for this section is the same as that of Section 2.

Section 4: Achiever's section

This section is designed to challenge students to think more critically and use higher-order thinking abilities to solve complex problems. This section includes five questions and carries a total of 10 marks.

The syllabus for this section is also the same as that of Section 2.
