INTERESTING FACTS - PARSNIPS

The parsnip is a root vegetable.

The parsnip is closely related to the parsley and carrot.

Since ancient times, Parsnips have been cultivated for their sweet roots.

These vegetables are native to Europe but now are grown all over the world.

The parsnip is a biennial plant.

It is strongly-scented and grows to a height of over 1.5 meters.

They have umbrella shaped clusters of yellowish green flowers.

One needs to finely peel them as most of the minerals and vitamins are found close to the skin of the vegetable.
