INTERESTING FACTS - KOHLRABI

Kohlrabi is a biennial vegetable.   This vegetable originates from North eastern Europe. 
The name Kohlrabi has a German origin. Kohl means cabbage and Rabi means turnip.  The edible part of this vegetable is the small enlarged portion of the above-ground stem.
The inside of kohlrabi is crispy and slightly sweet. Kohlrabi tastes like broccoli stems but is slightly sweeter.
Kohlrabi is a rich source of vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin K and  B-vitamins. It is a good source of antioxidants.
Kohlrabi improves digestion, helps in weight loss and boosts energy. It is believed that the consumption of Kohlrabi can increase blood circulation and prevent anemia. 
Kohlrabi, Cabbage, Broccoli, Cauliflower and Brussels sprouts belong to the same species. The approximate weight of a Kohlrabi is about 150 grams.
