Blackberries are found all over the world. There are approximately around 375 species of this berry.

Ancient Greeks used blackberries to treat gout. 

Ancient romans used to make a concoction from the leaves of blackberries to treat various illnesses.

Blackberries are perennial plants.

Blackberries are referred to as "superfood" as they are a rich source of minerals and vitamins.

Blackberries are also used in various flavours of jams and jellies.

Caterpillars love to eat blackberry leaves.

As per some traditions, Christ's blood is represented by the purple colour of these berries.

Blackberry trees which have turned orange should be immediately destroyed as the fungal disease is not curable.

Regular consumption of blackberries leads to brain alertness.

They have the highest levels of antioxidants.

The other names of blackberries are rambleberries, dewberries and thimbleberries.
