IMO Syllabus for Class 1
The IMO for Class 1 has a total of 35 questions across four sections and a time duration of 60 minutes to complete the test. The total marks for the International Mathematics Olympiad are 40. Here is a breakdown of the four sections in the syllabus and the exam pattern of Class 1 IMO:
Section 1: Logical Reasoning
This section aims to help students improve their learning abilities and feel comfortable approaching nonverbal and verbal reasoning on several topics.
The section includes 10 questions and carries a total of 10 marks.
The topics include Patterns, Geometrical Shapes, Odd One Out, Spatial Understanding, Grouping Measuring Units, Analogy, Ranking Test, and Problems on Figures.
Section 2: Mathematical Reasoning
This section tests the student's aptitude in mathematics, especially their ability to apply their knowledge of numbers and problem-solving abilities.
The section includes 10 questions and carries a total of 10 marks.
The topics include Numerals, Number names, Number Sense (2 digit numbers), Addition, Subtraction, Lengths, Weights and Comparisons, Time, Money, Geometrical Shapes and Solids, and Patterns.
Section 3: Everyday Mathematics
This section assesses the student's understanding of the application of mathematics in daily life and real-world circumstances.
This section includes 10 questions and carries a total of 10 marks.
The syllabus for this section is the same as that of Section 2.
Section 4: Achiever's section
This section is designed to challenge students to think more critically and use higher-order thinking abilities to solve complex problems. This section includes five questions and carries a total of 10 marks.
