Passage - Abigail and the injured bird

Abigail loved spending time outdoors, especially during the warm summer months. She enjoyed hiking through the woods, swimming in the lake, and lying in the grass watching the clouds go by. One day, while she was walking along a wooded trail, Abigail spotted a small bird with a broken wing. The bird was lying on the ground, unable to fly.

Abigail carefully picked up the bird and brought it home. She placed it in a cardboard box with some soft blankets and called the local animal shelter for help. The shelter recommended that she bring the bird to a nearby veterinarian, who specialized in treating wild animals.

The veterinarian examined the bird and determined that it had a broken wing. He explained to Abigail that the bird needed to rest and recover before it could be released back into the wild. He placed a small cast on the bird's wing and gave Abigail some instructions for caring for it.

Abigail spent the next several weeks caring for the bird, feeding it a special diet and making sure that its wing was healing properly. She named the bird Lucky and enjoyed spending time with it each day.

Finally, after several weeks of rest and care, Lucky's wing had healed enough for him to fly again. Abigail released Lucky back into the woods where she had found him, and watched as he flew off into the sky.
