Unseen Passage for Class 4 - Passage 16

The world came crashing down on eleven-year-old Angela's family when they learnt that she was stricken with a crippling disease. Angela was unable to walk and her movement was restricted in other ways as well. The doctors did not hold much hope of her ever recovering from this illness. They predicted she would spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair. They said that few recovered after contracting this disease. However, Angela was not discouraged.
Angela was transferred to a hospital where she received treatment so that she could return to her normal daily activities. The therapists were charmed by her undefeatable spirit. They taught her to imagine herself walking again so that it would give her hope and something positive to do in her waking hours. Angela also put in effort in her regular exercise sessions with the therapists so that she could recover speedily.
One day, as she was straining with her might to imagine herself walking again, an earthquake struck. The bed moved! She panicked when she saw everyone in the hospital screaming and running for cover. Equipment was falling and glass was breaking. Angela had no choice but to deliberately fall off the bed so that she could drag herself under it. Her quick thinking saved her life.
After the terrifying earthquake incident, Angela was even more determined to recover. She continued to attend her exercise sessions with the therapists. Miraculously, she was back in school within a few years. On her own two legs! No crutches, no wheelchair.
